Gourdonette is a lovely holiday hous set in a huge garden close to the center of Gourdon where you have many terrasses, restaurants, shops and such a cosy week market!

Gourdonette has its own private swimming pool, garden and terrasses around the house, so you can always sit in the shade or in the sun. The swimming pool (with security deck) is in full sun all day and surrounded by a large terrace with sunbeds and parasols, perfect for relaxing at the pool. Only 500 m from the lovely medieval town of Gourdon.

Interior

Small French kitchen with new appliances, the living room has a huge library with a collection of old books (just to look at as it is a collection...). It is a cosy, authentic living room. Next to the living room there is a covered veranda where you can sit when the weather may be a bit less attractive. There are 3 bedrooms of which two have a double bed and one has 2 bunk beds. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin and toilet.

Outside

Once you are in the gated garden you will find lots of space in front of the house behind and on both sides. The location is quiet but still it is so ideal as you are walking space to the town of Gourdon (no nuisance at the house of cars as the house is in a quiet street). You will find lawn areas where there is garden furniture and a barbeque.

Environment

Gourdon is situated in the beautiful Lot/Dordogne region of South West France. Gourdon, capital of the Bouriane, is a small picturesque town with many fascinating side streets leading up to the church and the "Table d'Orientation" which has a stunning 360 degree view over the Bouriane countryside. It has a history dating back to medieval time. On the circular route around the town you will find a variety of excellent restaurants and pavement cafe bars where you can sit and watch the world go by. There are also several supermarkets and boulangeries selling delicious pastries, breads and croissants. The Tuesday and Saturday markets sell local produce. On the outskirts of the town there are 2 lakes in a beautiful setting.

This beautiful area has an abundance of places to visit on roads that are a pleasure to drive along at any time of the year. There are also many activities to enjoy such as canoeing on the Dordogne river (8kms), hot air ballooning (20kms), lake swimming and fishing (1km), 18 hole golf course (17kms) and horse riding locally. Rocamadour (one of the most visited places in France), Sarlat and the "Valley of the Chateaux" are all within easy reach, as are the vineyards at Cahors where you can sample the excellent wines of the Lot. Of course, if you prefer, you can just sit by the pool and soak up the sun or relax under the trees with a book.

We have had a lovely stay at your house. We enjoyed the pool, saved many bees from drowning and watched the swallows swarming at night. We loved our trip to Beynac and ofcourse the markets, here in Gourdon as well as in Cahors. Domme is also really beautiful to visit. There is so much more to see but some days were just too hot to do anything, other than swimming in the pool. Maybe one day we will return!

We had such a wonderful time at Gourdonette! It's a beautiful ad charming house where everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable!
We loved picking up fresh baguette and pastries every morning, relaxing and playing by the pool, mountainbiking around 'Base de Salviac' and visiting the beautiful little villages in the surrounding area.

Thank you so much for your warm hospitality! We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back one day.

We really had a great time last week, here in Gourdon. On the recommendation of David, the man who welcomed us, we went to a market on Tuesday evening where holidaymakers gather to share a meal. It was really lovely.

We also made the most of the pool during the hot days. Furthermore, the temperature inside the house didn't bother us too much.

We had a wonderful holiday in Gourdon/Gourdonette! It was quite hot on some days, reaching 41 degrees... so the swimming pool was our best friend.

We hardly spent any time inside and found the area around the house very pleasant because there was always a nice spot to be found to sit comfortably, have breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and enjoy the starry sky and the crickets until late in the evening.
We would definitely recommend the house to others; the location is quiet.
Tip for future guests: you are asked to dispose of waste separately; there are two containers for this (yellow and grey) 100 meters next to the house. It took a bit of searching to find the glass recycling bins; these can be found in the back left next to the car wash in the left parking lot near the square where Action, Intersport, Pharmacy, and Intermarche Supermarket are located.

We found the Intermarche supermarket (there are 4 within a 5-minute drive) to be an absolute highlight; good butcher and freshly roasted rotisserie chickens.

We've thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and this lovely house over the past two weeks. On these hot days, we really enjoyed the lovely pool. Our kids absolutely loved it too! The last few days of our holiday were a heatwave (temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius), so you really miss the air conditioning.

The surrounding area is also beautiful, and within a half-hour drive you can reach the beautiful spots of the Dordogne and the Lot.

We spent a week in your fantastic house. Because a beautiful spacious garden and a great pool! There is a heat wave in this region now so the pool was indispensable.

It was also very nice to be within walking distance of all the shops. We enjoyed the characteristic streets and the market on Saturday. The caves of Cougnac are also recommended and also nice and cool: we went from 38 degrees to 14 degrees!

Gourdonette is within walking distance of the old center and the shops. Nice to get fresh bread every morning. Within half an hour you can reach the famous sights of the Dordogne and Lot. But don't forget about the smaller villages nearby. Less touristy and just as fun. Very nice area for cycling.
