Grauvière

Grauvière is a lovely holiday home, located in the most beautiful part of the Périgord Noir (Dordogne / Lot) and suitable for up to 8 people. Grauvière has a large enclosed garden with at the rear a very nice heated private swimming pool where you can relax. The old fortified town of Gourdon with all facilities and numerous restaurants is only a 10 minute drive from your accommodation, a bakery and a good restaurant can be found in the nearby village just a few kilometers away.

Interior

Grauvière has a spacious living room with open kitchen which is fully equipped. Open doors give direct access to the terrace and pool. There are 4 airconditioned bedrooms on the ground floor, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the left and 2 bedrooms and bathroom to the right of the living room. Ideal for two families for example or a group of friends.

Outside

The completely fenced garden of about 1500m2 offers a lot of privacy and for the children there is a lawn to play / play football. At the back of Grauvière is the terrace (120m2) and the swimming pool (with roman stairs) of 10 x 5mtr. Next to the house there is a driveway with ample parking.

Surroundings

Ideally located between Lot and the Dordogne, and not far from the beautiful cities of Sarlat, Domme, Padirac, La Roque Gageac, Rocamadour and Gourdon. You have endless views here and do not forget: in this region you have the lowest light pollution in Europe! Be amazed by the countless stars that you can see here at night! Great restaurant in the village at walking distance.

We had a wonderful holiday at holiday home Grauvière. We were warmly received by the friendly owner, who was easily reachable and spoke English. The house was tidy, clean, well-furnished, and the kitchen was fully equipped. Plenty of plates, glasses, and cutlery, as well as appliances in great working order. Even a Nespresso coffee machine.

There is no air conditioning in the living room, but there is in the bedrooms. That might cause some confusion if you need it during the summer. Wonderful beds, so we slept very well. It is very quiet at night, and in the morning, you are woken up by the birds in the garden. The only downside was that there were no mosquito screens, which we did miss as there were quite a few mosquitoes and wasps.

The garden is fantastically large. Our dogs had a great time running around and sniffing without any chance of escaping, as it is fully fenced. On one side, you have neighbours whom you hardly see or hear and when we did see them, they were very friendly. On the other side, there is a path leading to the neighbours at the back, but you hardly ever see anyone there. On that side, you also have a fantastic view.

If you go for walks in the area, keep in mind that almost everywhere there are guard dogs loose in gardens that might run towards you barking.

The pool is fenced and has plenty of sun loungers and parasols. You need to bring your own pool towels. It is heated continuously, which is lovely.

In the area, there are plenty of towns to visit, though you do need a car for everything. The house has plenty of brochures and booklets to gather ideas. There is a nice local produce shop nearby (La Halle de Cougnac), which was recommended by the owner. We also visited a lovely pottery shop (Poterie de Cressensac), where we bought a beautiful flowerpot for home.

Normally we always go to Spain, and this was our first time in the Dordogne/Lot, but we will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our holiday, and the house in Grauvière was ideal. Plenty of space and comfort, with everything you need in the kitchen. A lovely, spacious terrace with shade and a heated pool for afternoons spent relaxing. There's also a huge, fully fenced garden where the dogs can run around freely without worrying.

The area was very pleasant, and we found plenty of activities to do. We simply didn't book long enough, and we'll definitely be looking for a similar option for our 2026 summer holiday around New Year's Eve, in a different location within 900 km of home.

I also think the boys will want to come along again, so we'll be 3 couples and 2 dogs then as well. France or other countries are fine for us. Any suggestions for such options, even if the budget is a bit higher, are welcome.

We certainly enjoyed our holiday in Grauvière. Very pleasant house with everything you need and a spacious swimming pool (contrary to what is stated on your website), good sun loungers and parasols. All bedrooms are now equipped with a ceiling fan and that was not an unnecessary luxury. The garden is also much larger than 1500 m2. We can be brief about the weather: very warm and sunny.

After about 4 days we also had contact about a camping cot (our youngest did not sleep in a 'large' bed) and that was brought by Christelle the same day. The layout of the house is the best we have had as everything is in one place compared to the other houses he have rented.

Outside furniture, huge grass area, sofa, kitchen and bedrooms were all great.

The surprise of table tennis was a welcome one.

We always have a great time away as a family.

Everything is there for a great holiday ... the house is spacious, pleasant to live in, fully equipped .... nothing is missing ... we feel at home ... the pool is very pleasant, very large ... only downside is a flat bottom of 1.5m which can be annoying with small children. Otherwise nothing to say .. sunbathing parasol and secure swimming pool. Everything is as described. We really had a great time and recommend this vacation spot.
