La Pomette

This authentic holiday house with private pool in the Lot, Dordogne called ‘La Pomette’, is a typical French holiday home situated in a small hamlet, with no traffic or noise whatsoever. It has beautiful, thick orange/red stone walls. The hamlet is centred around the old chateau and is a part of the village Florimont-Gaumiers (181 inhabitants), at about 15 minutes from the river ‘the Dordogne’.

Interior

La Pomette, built around 1700, has three separated bedrooms and an attic bedroom for 4 children, so ideal for 8 to 10 persons. The adorable extra little cottage, which is situated at only 10 meters from the main house, has a kitchen, living room, bathroom and two extra smaller bedrooms for each two persons. This means that 4 extra people can stay in La Pomette, so 14 in total. In the early – and later season the price on our website is based on a maximum of 6 persons. It is possible to rent the cottage as well if you pay a small additional price. The cottage is never rented out to other people.

La Pomette has 3 bathrooms, 2 with a shower and 1 with a bathtub, you’ll also find the washing machine here. The 2 toilets are separated.

Outside

From the main house, the terraces or the garden you have an incredible, panoramic view over the hills . The main house is created by adding three different cottages together, it now has a total of 250 m2. The grounds on which La Pomette is situated is very private and is about 2 hectares.

When sleeping in one of the three bedrooms downstairs, you can get out of bed in the morning and walk straight to the swimming pool! This charming but authentic holiday home is decorated with a very nice personal taste. Next to the spacious living room with fire place you will find the kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso machine etc. Next to the kitchen there’s a large covered and heated terrace, with an outdoor kitchen, perfect to have a delicious lunch or dinner outside.

Scattered over the property you'll find several terraces, some big enough to sit with all the members of your famely like the one next to the pool with a stone barbecue and "jeu de boule" area.

Surroundings

Close to this holiday home are Domme (15 minutes), La Rocque-Gageac (15 minutes) and Sarlat (25 minutes). Every Friday morning there is a biological market with fresh products from the local farmers in Salviac where you find also a small supermarket, a bakery and a fantastic butcher with delicious meat. Larger supermarkets are in Gourdon (15 minutes). If you love cycling you’ll also love this area as there are many cycling tracks.

The domain is beautiful, the different floors and terraces very nice, and the house has a magnificent view over the valley. It is wonderfully quiet. We liked the house itself: it is a typical old and authentic Dordogne house, and we love it: full of charm. The rooms are spacious, nice and comfortable, the style of furnishing is very personal, and a bit "full and busy" ???? but we appreciated Maud's taste and personal touches. It was cozy and (mostly) comfortable, suitable for a family group, and we enjoyed it.

Last summer we happened to find ourselves in a little paradise…..La Pomette in the Dordogne.

The tasteful decoration was in harmony with the romantic atmosphere of the property.

Being a party of 13, we really appreciated the various little terraces scattered over the terrain, facilitating a moment of privacy with your friend, partner or a book. We also enjoyed the jeu de boules lane.

We had a marvellous summer holiday.

The holiday at La Pomette was sheer bliss. A welcoming property and a warm, summery environment.

The children loved it and the daddy’s too.

Just a tip: the fridge under the terrace doesn’t function very well and is really needed with a party of 9 people.

We will recommend this property in our circle of friends. We would love to come back and so do our children.
