Welcome to Lesgrabous, an exclusive and tastefully decorated holiday home (+ studio) for up to 8 people (plus babies), located on a private 3-hectare estate in the heart of the Dordogne countryside. Here, you’ll enjoy the peace and charm of rural France, just 1.5 km from the lively village of Les Eyzies, famous for its weekly market, sunny terraces and excellent restaurants. Lesgrabous is owned by a Dutch couple, and the fenced private pool makes it safe for children. It’s the perfect place to unwind, enjoy nature, and gaze at the starry sky from your own hot tub.

The newly built studio with its own kitchen and bathroom is located next to the pool and is brand new (2024). It can accommodate two people and enjoy the beautiful sky full of stars from the in complete privacy. It can be rented for an additional €1000 in July and August, and for €750 outside of that time. Ideal for an extra couple or grandparents, for example!

Interior

The living room is warmly and stylishly furnished, complete with a large open fireplace for romantic evenings. The fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need for home-cooked meals. Lesgrabous features three spacious bedrooms with high-quality box spring beds (90x200, can be combined into doubles), a baby cot and a highchair. Ventilators in each bedroom provide comfort during the summer. There are two modern bathrooms, one with double sink and walk-in shower, and two separate toilets, one on each floor.

Exterior

The heated private pool (5 x 10 m) invites you to relax and soak up the sun all day. Several terraces offer a mix of sun and shade, along with loungers and an outdoor fireplace for cozy evenings. Children can enjoy the large garden with table tennis, badminton, darts, and pétanque. The romantic hot tub in the garden is the perfect spot for a glass of wine as the sun sets.

Surroundings

Lesgrabous is just minutes from vibrant Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, the “Prehistoric Capital” of France, home to fascinating caves, museums and walking trails. Other must-see sights of the Dordogne, including Sarlat, the Vézère Valley and medieval castles, are a short drive away. Shops, markets and nature are close by, yet the moment you return to Lesgrabous, you’ll feel completely surrounded by calm, space and privacy.

As mentioned before, we had a fantastic holiday in your beautiful house and its wonderful surroundings. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the views, and the delicious food at various restaurants in the village. What more could you ask for? Well, we'll definitely have to come back again. The pool was wonderful, especially with the Fatboy mattresses. Compliments on the charming decor, truly fantastic. We'd definitely love to come back.

We spent the past two weeks at this beautiful estate. How peaceful! The house and studio are located almost at the end of a very quiet forest path. It's situated on a large estate, surrounded by meadows and woods, making you feel almost alone in the world. You see the occasional car or walker, but otherwise, you only hear the crickets and birds.

The house is fully equipped and very tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are spacious and have comfortable beds. It's good to know that there are three bedrooms in the house, each with two beds, but two bedrooms are connected by an open hallway. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances: a Nespresso machine, kettle, microwave, oven, large refrigerator—you name it. There's also a Kamado outside, perfect for barbecuing.

We also had the use of the studio, which is located more or less next to/under the pool. Once again, very tastefully decorated and—just like the house—equipped with every comfort. It's a bright space with a large glass wall offering a fantastic view. This room also has air conditioning, which is a bonus for a space with so much glass.

The pool is also perfect. It comes with four sun loungers and two permanent parasols. For part of our holiday, we were with six adults and also placed the studio's two sun loungers by the pool. The Fatboys in the pool are absolutely perfect; no airbed can match them!

The Wi-Fi is good in and around the house, including in the studio. I occasionally had to work on my laptop, and that worked fine. Using a phone with six adults might be a bit more challenging, but you certainly don't want that in that location.

If you install the Footpath app on your phone, you'll see every little forest path, and you can take a walk straight from the garden. There are several circuits to explore, from paths between meadows to steeply climbing mountain trails with ruins.

We can highly recommend Villa Lesgrabous!

You really only want to give this destination one star. Is this accommodation worth more? Yes, much more, but by giving it one star, you hope this destination doesn't become too popular and you can stay here more often.

This house is/was PERFECT for us as a family, in a word. Everything about this accommodation is perfect and styled with the right feel.

The kitchen is equipped with all necessary appliances, including a good-sized refrigerator. And for those who love to cook, there are sharp knives. Personally, I hate having to work with knives that aren't razor-sharp. That's why (okay, maybe a bit autistic) I always bring knives from home. We didn't need them! Outside (also for those who love cooking) there's a beautiful kamado grill, perfect for enjoying a delicious BBQ.

Fortunately, we weren't bothered by the horseflies/horseflies reported by another visitor. We did encounter wasps, but that's due to the season. Perhaps the measures taken by the owner have been effective.

Under the veranda/canopy, it's wonderful to relax in one of the comfortable hanging chairs or on the comfortable lounge set.

The lovely large swimming pool is wonderful for cooling off. Comfortable loungers with a parasol allow you to sit in the shade as well. During our first week, the temperatures were tropical (+40 degrees), but it was quite bearable on the sleeping floor because all the windows have mosquito screens and can be set up at night. This, combined with the ceiling fans, makes air conditioning unnecessary.

We love the tranquility. With a busy daily life (who doesn't these days?), it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the peace and quiet here and unwind.

It's a beautiful house in a fantastic location in the Dordogne. The distance was perfectly manageable for us, including stops.

There's so much to do in the area, from visiting caves (Lascaux) and castles to canoeing. Something for everyone.

Are there any downsides?

Well, after much thought – not really. If I had to mention anything, it would be that it's a shame that the beautiful lighting of the house, the road to the house, and the land don't allow for complete darkness to be created for 100% clear stargazing and photography.

What I started the review with is, of course, incorrect. This gem deserves all the stars it can get. A big thank you to the owner(s) of the house for making it available for rent. I wouldn't rule out that we'd like to return someday.

Five stars? Make it 6 stars! What a beautiful house, built around 1600 in a fantastic location in the Dordogne. An 11 hour drive and you are quickly Zen and hear very little. In the evening the owls and a stray car. That while you are sitting under the cozy canopy. Several seating areas around the house where you give your own twist. Swimming pool with the fatboys great and floating above the water. You heat the hot tub about 3 hours in advance and the temperature then goes towards 32 to 34 degrees. Lovely.

Atmospheric fitting interior of the country house or gîte built in our 80 year war. 3 bedrooms where 6 people can stay well with fans and they get a cool breeze. Large fridge with freezer, washing machine, dryer and TV with Canalplus. The hanging chair was a favorite and gives a cocoon feeling. Hammocks also available. A 5km jog? Fine and take into account an ascent of about 70 meters and the same descent. You can feel it.

Eating out: a bit of everything. We ate from a hamburger menu by the water, pizza burrata at Mentalo to a delicious 3-course dinner at Jan and Ruud, known from By by Belgium. Enjoyed it very much and especially the latter. A visit to Rocamadour is recommended, about 1.5 hours away.

Canoeing is very good there. Sandwiches, éclairs, tartalette, croissants etc. available at the local bakery.

The owners have made something great of it.

We booked 1 week of rest and that was more than worth it.

We had a wonderful week with our family in Lesgrabous! The house is fully equipped and the garden and pool are fantastic. Tasteful interior and wonderfully thick towels. Breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner on the terrace under the grape vines made it complete. Lots to see and do in the area. Walking to the village is doable but not the most pleasant way in the summer with regard to insects as the road mostly runs through the forest.

The contact with the owner of the house was pleasant and went well. There was a quick response and the problem regarding the water pressure in the showers was immediately resolved. We will definitely come back. What a wonderful holiday we had. Booked through FranceVilla for the second time but certainly not the last. Thanks!”
